Train Museum and The Soda Fountain

I'm still here! I'm sorry about that but things got busy. I haven't stopped posting though. Please check the Honey Brooke Farm page for small updates from time to time as well. I love days like today. We had a good time -- we went to the Railroad museum not far from here, and it was very interesting. It was all about the various routes that railroads took throughout Texas and how trains worked along with the ways the old train cars that people took were like. I really liked the old china and silver as well as looking at the menus and such. We also were able to board a rail car that Prince Philip actually took as well. It was very neat and I wouldn't have minded a bit to travel that way.

After the railcar, we went into the tower that controls the trains. As we were inside, a train actually did run by and I kind of reverted to a little kid for a moment. The guide showed us an actual 100 year old "computer" that made all the trains run and get to their destinations successfully (below).

I'm not sure why but we didn't get a photo of the caboose! But we did go in ...

Afterwards, we headed across the street to my new favourite little cafe/soda fountain place. We had lunch and I just had to get a cherry vanilla Dr. Pepper .. they mix their own sodas and they are so YUMMY!

Are you looking forward to Christmas? I almost have our shopping done. Almost. After the soda fountain, we went to the antique shops around there and I am trying very hard to find my Mom a present! She has everything and I'm trying not to just find another something that is just SOMETHING. I try to find something special... Well, it didn't happen today.... But I did have a good time!

Happy Thanksgiving, my pretties... Thank you so much for reading my silly thoughts and every day life ! I appreciate you all and am grateful for this life I have and knowing you (and if I don't yet, please make your presence known!) I'm looking forward to sharing more with you in the next year onwards.... I'll be putting Christmas decorations up this week and will be posting photos of that! Have a great day and weekend.

Anniversary Part Deux

In continuing with Part I of our Anniversary ...

We were happily surprised (or I might've been more than Adam, even) by the addition of Roosters and Chickens ... who were as curious about us as we were of them.

And right next to them in a pin, was a very pregnant female .. who looked ready to pop any day, and she would NOT move... and her friend....

It made me miss my goats we had in my teenage years very much. They were a handful sometimes but they were great. It also made me want chickens .... maybe someday.

This really was such a neat place.. I'll be going back soon. I found a lavender plant I have been wanting and Adam got it for me...

I'm looking forward to making that plant into something I can sell... I have many ideas --- as usual.

We finally made our way home to a nice dinner by the oil lamp light... Say hello, sweetness... Yes, that's Adam... I made him ravioli... He got me some sushi ....

Afterwards, we started working on a puzzle... which was actually too easy. We realized we really enjoyed working on a puzzle together and today (12th) went and bought a 1000 piece puzzle! There's something kind of nice and comforting about doing this together. We both work yet again in harmony trying to put something as silly as a puzzle together... but it is better than getting stuck watching TV or something else...

Anniversary Part I

Today, Adam and I celebrated our 6th anniversary. We had a great day. We woke up and I made him a breakfast and then we started out, took the long pretty country road way and had been wanting to stop at this old house and take a photo for some time... so we finally stopped and took it!

I wish I could paint this place. I don't want it touched. I hope it stays like this forever.  I stayed back and only went to the bridge (which was wonderful in itself). Adam got closer and took this photo ..

And then when I was on my way back, I didn't know he was going to take this.. but he caught me!

We carried on... and then went to some antique shoppes along the way.. After we left there, where I picked up some old photos of people who 'speak' to me.. (I feel they need a home. It is so sad.) We drove by this old locked up feed store and thought it was kind of fascinating....

Adam and I both seem to appreciate architecture ....


We then stopped at Richmond - at the courthouse because it was an interesting building, and they had a memorial for the Fort Bend soldiers who had lost their lives in wars. Being that it was Veterans day, we took a moment of silence.

Moving on ... We stopped at a place called "Enchanted Gardens". It's a place where you can buy plants, trees, veggies and herbs and such. It really is such a neat place just to walk around and enjoy. Adam was shooting photos here and there and so was I. I didn't realize the place was going to be so fun!

A kid would love the little old town set up they had... Well, what can I say, we did too! And when we reached it... We found..........

Farmer's Markets, Mice, and other things...

Sunday, My mother and I went and checked out two farmer's markets in the area. Luckily, I liked the one closest to me, but the one a little further had THE BEST 'refrigerator pickles'! I will have to go back and get jars again. The man selling them said it was his grandmother's recipe. I wish I could somehow get it from him! I didn't get any photos of this outing but maybe I will in the future. My mom and I bought things from almost every stand. Snirk. I even bought from the little ol' man selling conventional veggies because I just couldn't help it. I was wanting organic, of course, but ....... Okay, I'm a sucker. Go ahead. Say it. He was a little old man and was so nice.

My list of things I need to create since we're close to the holidays has been increasingly becoming more on the list. Let's hope I can create that recipe I created for cranberry sauce that everyone loved last year since I forgot to write it down! They are making me do it again. And all those pecans from the tree in East Texas? A good many of them are turning into some kind of glazed roasted pecans for christmas gifts. I'm finally going to start creating my cards too (which will be sold on my etsy/here). And a couple of other things I don't want to give away my secrets to yet!

I don't mind this diet I have to have. I'm not talking about the 'diet' per se where you are trying to loose weight, but it's mostly a pescatarian diet (Pescatarian : vegetarian which eats fish) but I know I am pretty much getting my nutrients. I'm not feeling deprived NOW. At first, I thought this was going to drive me nuts. I'm alright now, I am eating better than I was before the attack.

I think things are going to be okay now.

In other news, we've had a pesky mouse (or possibly mice) running around thinking Sophie's dog food, our toothpaste and other things were his to chew on. Adam (My husband) bought some traps today, and sure enough, we caught him. For a moment, Adam had a sense of sadness -- which actually touched me -- We hated doing that really but what are you going to do? He was running rampant everywhere!

I love my husband. He's tough but the little things kinda get him ...

Oh, and what did I say about the weather becoming cooler? .....

It's the little things that make me happy ...

Yesterday, I made a "chocolate decadence" cake with blueberry glaze on top for our bass player/friend's birthday. I used some yogurt in the batter that had a hint of blueberry in it. I couldn't eat it, but everyone including Adam, loved it! I would've taken photos but I didn't think it looked exceptionally pretty.

Today we came across a Resale store that was great. I scored some very cheap fall/winter shirts. I have been feeling very well as everything is coming together with my new orthotics, pillow, adjustments, and eating much better. Finally some relief...

It is colder today and the sunset here was very pretty. There is soft music in the living room here and it has been a happy day....

And then I begin again ...

e11/1/11 and 11 days away from my 6th anniversary. I live in a new place now and much better... Something closer to what I always wanted and I think I am happier. I have been away from this blog but I'm picking it up now. I need to! I made promises I didn't keep to it, but I think I ca do it now. There's more sunlight here!

I finally got my blue chairs.

This house pretty much represents what we like, but we'll only stay here maybe a couple of years, I'm thinking. However, I wish I could just have this same set up with an extra bedroom somewhere else next time.

Right now, I have sweet potato wedges and fries baking in the oven, and a vanilla candle on the counter. I'm taking in the sunshine in the living room and all is well.
